Observability Platforms Developer

iQmetrix is seeking an enthusiastic, forward thinking and highly skilled individual to fill our Observability Developer role. The Observability team is within our Site Reliability Engineering business unit, with a mandate to deliver platforms and standards for observability of our products and the platforms they run on. Our team is distributed across Canada: onsite in Vancouver, Regina, and Winnipeg.

This role presents an excellent opportunity to grow and/or flex your expertise with a variety of technologies while working with technical leadership across many of our product departments.

Purpose: Providing robust observability platforms and standards for iQmetrix products

Accountabilities:

  • Providing input to the overall technical strategy, architecture and development of observability platforms in use for various iQmetrix products
  • Creating and optimizing processes and tooling used to provide and maintain observability platforms and services
  • Collaborating continuously with the product development teams to implement observability platforms that meet the needs of product development
  • Making appropriate trade-off decisions between short and long-term objectives
  • Performing analysis of the current practices and deficiencies to recommend and implement best practices and emerging concepts
  • Mentoring teammates on observability and development practices
  • Integrating feedback from clients into our observability platforms
  • Integrating feedback from post-incident analysis into our observability platforms
  • Providing on call support for production observability platforms

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust and relationships with a variety of technical and business stakeholders
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving capabilities with drive for continuous improvement
  • Experience working within a distributed technical team
  • Experience prioritizing, planning, and organizing work on multiple concurrent projects and initiatives
  • Working knowledge of system monitoring tools (e.g. New Relic, Prometheus)
  • Broad automation experience in build, test, configuration and deployment in complex environments
  • Source Code Management (Github) and CI/CD experience (Teamcity, TFS/Azure Devops Services)
  • Passionate about innovation and emerging technology
